Artist's Description
The Gomez Mill, also known as the Dard Hunter Mill, was built in 1912 in the shape of a Devonshire cottage by owner William Joseph “Dard” Hunter. Hunter, who was an American authority on handmade papermaking, used the mill as a paper mill until its sale in 1918. The Gomez Mill and Gomez Mill House, located in Marlboro, NY (or Town of Newburgh, depending on the source) are named after the original land holder, Sephardic Jewish trader and merchant Luis Moses Gomez.
